Jewish law provides no support for the post of a "chief rabbi" because every rabbi has equal authority in principle. Sephardi Jews in the United Kingdom are mainly members of independent synagogues and so there is no single rabbi currently recognised by them as a chief rabbi.
Hebrew Synagogue does recognise a Senior Rabbi, who's mission is to strengthen and invigorate all Jewish communities and guide their respective members to strive to become powerhouses of religious commitment, educational excellence and social responsibility.
Our Senior Rabbi leads by example and has committed his life to Torah, Teshuvah, Tzedakah and Hitbodedut.
Hebrew Synagogue is seen as an advisory body on matters pertaining to Jewish religious practice and is widely consulted by many agencies. Members of the public are welcome to contact our office with any queries.
